For early 356A, this gasket goes between the phenolic pump flange and the timing cover (so-called third piece). It is not used with the later aluminum flange.

Another usage is for the late fuel pump when fuel pressure needs an adjustment (too high). It can go on either side of the phenolic insulating block -- thickness is 0,50 mm.
